Afternoon coffee - 2020-08-03 - TOGoS's Journal

Deadmau5 weather todaay.

By which I mean, I think the first time I purposely listened to Deadmau5 was late summer or early fall and it was chilly out. It is early August. It will be hot again most likely. But today is a little chilly. And it reminds me of similar days from years ago, when I'd go with Becky or Shaina to a coffee shop with our laptops for a work date. It's nice weather for being out in. But Sara came down for Heather's birthday party last night, and this morning I had to go to the office to get my laptop fixed and then to Russ Darrow to have them check on the e-brake, and then she had to go, and it felt like we hadn't had nearly enough time together, even though I'd been up north for a week and a half. And so now I'm missing her, and it's Deadmau5/coffee-date weather. It's not so much depressing as sentimental.

Had some dreams over the past few nights that I never got around to writing down. In the only one I can recall at the moment, I was on a trip with a dog (presumably Tina) and a cow (maybe Porsha). We were out along a road in a dry, desertish canyon. There were photos, or I was taking photos. But it was as if someone was taking the photos and then using them as a basis for illustrations. I noticed, and took as evidence of this, that unrelated objects in different pictures were drawn in a similar style.

Many of the pictures looked like they were lit by a campfire. And indeed, it was night time, and there was a campfire...somewhere nearby, I guess. I liked the effect. And so I was crouching down with my camera setting up a good shot that would have some gravel and plants in the foreground, the dog, and the cow further away, near a wooden fence that separated the area we were in from the highway. I brought the cow along? That's kind of funny, I thought to myself.

A taranchula got on my face. I very much wanted it off my face. It was being very sticky though, and was hard to remove without hurting it.

I've a few projects I'd like to work on soon:

I want to get back into running regularly, too, at least while I'm in Madison. Maybe it's the weather that put that idea in my head, too. Monday, Wednesday, Friday nights, to make it simple. And then Thursday could be workshop night again. Better to keep that a one-night-a-week thing, I think. Weekends can be reserved for adventures or left unstructured for those times that I need more time for a project.

The Art of Not Thinking says don't think just do it, and when a thing is too big and complicated, just do a little part.

Oh yeah I also kind of want to make an Android playlist downloader/player thing.
