Old work frustrations - 2022-03-01 - TOGoS's Journal

I dreamt that I was working for EIT again. Currently I was on a business trip, working out of a bus, in Prague, or maybe somewhere in Poland, for a client that was building some web store. I had spent a lot of time fixing things up, both in the backend and frontent code and in the look of the pages. I was very satisfied with the whole thing (exactly like after I had completed the Schweser cart redesign!). Then I found out that one of their internal developers had been working on the same thing. And I was reminded of how frustrating this kind of job can be even when you care about the work and are trying to make something good.

I vented at Adam a bit when I saw him, but his body language / response / lack thereof told me that I was not yet back to my old status where I could avoid working on things I didn't like.

I was out exploring the area (where the bus was usually parked), which more than anything vaguely resembled the big hill on Raymond road. Devin was with me and we were slding down the hill on roller skates or skate boards or something, and then later taking different routes around the Raymond/Gilbert/Hammersley/Reetz rectangle.

At another point I was standing on train tracks (adjacent to where the bus was parked) taking a video of a train coming towards me through a tunnel. Sara didn't like it when I showed it to her. I told her that the video was zoomed way in so the train looked closer than it really was. I didn't recall feeling like I was in any danger when I took the video.
