Best e-mail ever - Entry 553 - TOGoS's Journal

E-mail me at chumps_53705 <at-sign> yahoo.com I mean, really. I never get e-mail. I don't even care if you have anything to say! I'm so lonely...

Hullo there,

I recently found your music (Artist: TOGoS) via Gnomoradio and I just want to say it's excellent. I've passed it onto at least one other friend and they think it's great too. It's some of the most intelligent and colourful techno/electronica we've found.

It's not usually my thing to send fan mail, and it's embarrassing if I'm the first! :-) But I was wondering whether you just had a talent for musical composition, or taught yourself over time?

Yes!!! This is friggin' awesome!!! My first fan mail for anything, ever!

*okay TOGoS, take deep breaths*

You totally just made my day, dude :) As for answering your question, I just started playing around with a MIDI sequencer a couple years ago, and about a year later I graduated from TiMidity to Reason. A lot of cutting-and-pasting I do, but apparently it works :D. My music is highly influenced by Underworld. My friends say I'm good at mixing melodies. Other than some piano lessons when I was 7 I haven't much real 'training' :P

I haven't actually tried out Gnomoradio, yet, being pretty much stuck on a Windows box (well, there's my Linux server sitting right next to it but it has no mouse, keyboard, monitor, or sound card ; I'd like to write a C# gnomoradio client if I can figure out the protocol and find a hub), so I wasn't even aware people were able to download my music at all. I'd like to ask you what your favorite/least favorite of my songs are, so I know what other folks like. I like Narg 9.

Thanks again for the fan mail :)
