Iron retaining walls - 2006-09-02 10:10 - Entry 832 - TOGoS's Journal

OK, so we were at this park (maybe in the place of Olin). That is, I think my folks and Fizz's folks were there, and I might've been hanging out with Fizz and Joh. We were sitting at the side of a soccer field where all these people (some of them were little kids, some of them were our age) were playing soccer. It was a funny field because it had a metal cliff right across the middle of it, about 2 feet high. At some points there were little ramps that went up, and these were where the people went through when they were trying to kick the ball over to the other side of the field. It made the game somewhat harder for the people on the low end.

Along the other side of the field (but at a bit of a slant) there was a building, about 2 or 3 stories high. They were giving people free drinks in there. This lady was trying to pour me some kind of chocolate coffee milk thing, except she kept going when my glass was obviously full and it overflowed onto my hand. She said 'oops, I thought it was one of those glasses that if you filled it up the drink would go up into a twirly straw!'

Our next-door neighbors lived on a big hill that was right next to our driveway. They had all these retaining walls and things and sort of a parking lot on top. I came home this day and found that my parents had had our front yard 'raised' in order to try and match the neighbors' better. Our driveway stayed where it was, though, and so did our front porch. But the grassy area ramped up to the front of the porch and then dropped off right in front of it, almost enclosing it. It was strange. And I wondered how they had managed to get all that done in one night without me noticing until now.
