Delta Lodge and some other stuff, mostly dreams I had - 2009-01-25 (20:19) - Entry 1073 - TOGoS's Journal

I've been meaning to write these down for long enough that I'm not sure when I dreampt them. I think this first one I had about a week and a half ago.

Atticus was using Doombuilder to try to make a Doom level. I think he was actually basing the level off one that Fizz and I had already been working on. He didn't really know how to fix sectors that got made the wrong way, though, and so when he showed it to me there were a bunch of unclosed sectors making HOM all over. Later I was making a level and there were polygonal things I could add in that I could make realistic bridges out of (sort of like in Cube) I was using some castle pieces and making some battlements and towers.

The next night (we may have been at Delta Lodge by now) I had a dream that I got to fly a stealth bomber but right away got shot down in a desert by Osama Bin Laden, who I then had to run away from into a cave, since he was shooting at me. This cave somehow took me to the Pentagon, and I was ryunning around trying to tell people that Osama Bin Laden was right out this one weird door.

And sometime later I had a dream that I was playing TA against Fizz, Atticus, and Joh, but at the moment I was mostly fighting Fizz, who had built a space station right next to mine. I had built several Big Berthas around my base, and I started shooting them into his rapidly. This seemed to destroy all his stuff (which was blue), but when I turned the camera (this was first-person TA, in space) some polygons of his base popped into view that were hidden before because of some limitation in the engine (too many polygons on the screen at once, I guess). It turned out he had quite a lot of stuff left, and other than those big guns (which were now being destroyed), I only had one construction plane (which was actually a construction space ship), so I took it and flew it to the farthest corner of the universe I could find, thinking they wouldn't find me there since I was off the map. Then I found out there was a more zoomed out map that showed the whole universe, and they could still see me on that.

A few nights ago (after coming back from Delta Lodge) I had a dream that when I was little there were these things called 'sky skeeters' that would float across the sky sometimes. They were an alternative to airplanes that flew (more like floated, actually) much higher than planes on really really long, white wings. Sometimes the wings were so long they would cross the entire sky, while the centrall hull where people rode and cargo was stored was only a dot in the sky. I wondered why and when those stopped being used.

And just last night I had a dream that Ned was giving me a ride somewhere but we stopped at my parents' house, and from there I went to La Crosse, and then came back to find Ned patiently waiting for me in my dad's computer room. I apologized for keeping him so long. He drove me back to my apartment, where he dropped me off and picked up Tricia, who had for some reason been staying with YC.

Other than all those dreams, I went to Delta Lodge with YC where we skiid a lot and played Risk and ate yummy dinners and I read 'Quicksilver', which is a really long book by Neal Stephenson. I'm still reading it, now and am only about one third done. YC and I biked to my parents' house on Saturday (on the way we stopped at a bubble tea place in the food court of that new university square building and got free drink and frozen yogurt) and then biked to West Town to try to get free stuff from Boston Store (they were out) and to Woodmans, where we got a lot of groceries which were especially tricky to get back to my folks' house because YC's brakes didn't work and it was dark and cold. All the TV towers along the west beltline reminded me of the sky skeeters, which was cool because the sun was setting and looking awesome.

Today we biked back to the apartment, I played TA with Atticus and Joh, YC is curling, and I am finishing up this journal entry which has been sitting around unfinished for a week, fretting about not having paid our AT&T Internet bill that was due 3 days ago (their web site is broken right now so I can't), and reading Quicksilver. The connection over which I am typing is very laggy and so it is hard to go back and fix typos so I hope I didn't make very many of them.
