Trips - 2015-10-07 - Entry 1406 - TOGoS's Journal

I've told the tale of my trip to TomorrowWorld numerous times,
but haven't written down about it yet.

The ride down was uneventful. My favorite part was listening to
Mind.In.A.Box while driving through Tennessee at night

TomorrowWorld was kind of a disaster because it rained and there didn't
seem to be much in the way of contingency planning for that case.
The parking lots turned to mud and I wasn't able to use the on-site parking.

I ended up paying 20$ to Mr. Smith Grocery to leave my car at his gas
station on Friday, realizing later after I got to the festival (by way
of a ride in some convertible to the offsite parking lot followed by a
really long wait for a shuttle bus) that I didn't actually know where
my car was relative to where I was camped.

So on Saturday I hiked back up to the road, caught a ride from a lady
driving the DJ shuttle, and had her drive a couple ways until I found
my car. Then I tried to park it in the offsite parking lot that I had
visited on Friday only to be turned away by a cop who instructed me to
go to Walmart in Union City. There were a bunch of other people at
Walmart standing around the parking lot waiting for the elusive
shuttle. Hours were passing and I decided as long as I was there to
pick up some boots and plastic bags. Back at the parking lot someone
on their phone decided that no shuttles would be coming after all and
we should all head to the Georgia Renaissance Festival grounds, which
I did. That was an actual official parking lot with shuttles, and the
shuttles were a lot quicker than the Saturday ones had been.

I started circumnavigatuing the campground but was quickly stopped by
a group of people at the edge 'adopting' me. Somebody offered me some
white substance (I thought it was coke, but in hindsight maybe it was
MDMA) and while I was there a guy tried to sell me ketamine. I
declined on both. Eventually I wandered into the festival with a
couple of them, but then decided that I wasn't quite in the mood for
dancing yet and headed back out to the campground and cicumnavigated
the entire thing for real this time. I talked of taking a nap but
this never happened. I did stop by my tent and had a really good
cucumber and spinach and hummus sandwich. Then I wandered back to the
music, still wearing my rain coat.

As it started getting dark I found myself on the boat stage and some
guy called "Etherwood" was playing. I thought he was pretty cool.

Then I wandered over toward the main stage because I wanted to hang
out at the top of the hill. I wanted to get some water but the
fountains near there were only for if you had a bottle, and I didn't,
and I didn't want to be the weirdo drinking from the bottle filler
with his hands, so I just passed on the whole thing and went back up
the hill. Eventually I decided I was already too tired and wasn't
going to be doing any dancing anyway so I headed back to the tent.

I tried to sleep but it was really hot.
And I was rather annoyed that I had to pee,
because this meant I had to put my boots on in order to walk through
the mud to the bathrooms, which were a ways away.
Putting on boots takes a great deal of care in order to not get
the mud all over the tent, you see.
And the zipper got stuck. Aaaghhhh.

Sent Moriah some drunk messages.
Also some to Becky.
More to Moriah.
I haven't heard anything from her since that night.
I think I weirded her out.
I didn't think she could be weirded out.

Next day sat around being tired and hungover for a while before
finally tearing down the tent, packing up, and getting the heck out of
there. Walking was a struggle. Arms were tired. Hired a bike to
take me a good chunk of the way towards the road. Caught a shuttle to
the parking lot. Got in car. Loaded up the gear. Drove back to
Atlanta. Passed a fair. Got back to Dawne's house and played Mario
Kart with Tim and his goofy friend whose name I forgot.

On Monday I went with Dawne to do some errands and walk around.
We got Sundaes. Mine had too much fudge and it made me feel icky.

I spent some time reading some sci-fi short stories from a book of
them.

Then I took the kids to some fair. The rides made me feel nauseous. :(
Later we went to Waffle House.

On Tuesday we went to a botannical garden that had some cool places.
And then we went to visit Hannah.
And then we went to eat.
And then we met up with Jason and ate more.

And early on Wednesday morning I took off for home.

The drive wasn't too terrible. I got kind of sick of Rotersand for a
bit as I was entering Illinois, but then better Rotersand started
playing. Later I got sick of Savant. I think I skipped through a
bunch of it and then listened to Way Out West for the rest of the ride
back to Madison, which was nice.

Stopped at Target and bought some kneepads for the upcoming caving trip.
Saw a cop chase on the way back home.
Visited the rents and avoided my street for a bit because I didn't
want to get caught in the middle of that and shot or anything.

Ended up bailing on the caving trip because Moriah wasn't going, so I
didn't care. Instead I went and saw The Martian with Joh and Jason
and Abe and Doren and some friend of theirs who used to work on
spaceships. That was the third. And then on Sunday Becky and Renee
took me couch shopping. I also made like 3 trips to Menards.
Joh was along for some of those.
Conduit bought.

A week passed. I did work. Mostly fixing connect message stuff for BetterMD.
Had a meeting with Josh and John about the upcoming organization pizza meeting.
The pre-meeting meeting was a beer meeting at Echo.
I also finished installing a new circuit in the basement using all that conduit.
Joh came over on Thursday and we played TA on some computers he restored
that we had plugged into a 45$ power strip that was plugged into a new outlet box.

Yesterday I took the motorbike out for a spin. Still dripping black stuff.
Then went to the rents. Played Monopoly with Heather.

Today my couch got delivered. Alvin likes it.
I also chopped some sticks up in the backyard.
Ben and Skye came to visit.
Ben and I talked conduit.
I went to Hy-Vee and got bananas and ice cream and granola.
Visited rents, bringing ice cream.
Dad and I talked conduit.

I'm supposed to go to meetups as homework for my next shrink visit.
I haven't spotted anything I'm interested in, yet.

Ah, I think that about covers it.
Crossing to write this entry off the to-do list.
