EDM 1255 - 2007-05-18 - Entry 926 - TOGoS's Journal

I had a dream that...well, the first part is a bit fuzzy. A-Day was there, and there was this multi-story building with a large open area with stairs and escalators. If you stopped off at one of the floors you'd go into a room with all your old shoes and have to decide which to wear for the next part of the dream.

Next I was hiking with some hoofers across Lake Mendota. The lake must have been frozen (since we were walking right across it to a campsite out on some penninsula). As we left, I had to decide which pair of shoes to wear. Each pair had a different problem. My old red shoes (I had 2 pairs of these in the dream, unlike in real life where I have only one (which I wear to work sometimes)) were full of holes (the older, more imaginary pair had more and bigger holes), my hiking boots had hollow, collapsing (and thereby uncomfortable to walk on) soles, my Gore-TEX boots hurt my heels, and I didn't want to get my white shoes dirty.

We saw smoke coming from downtown across the lake, and I think YC and I biked over to find out what was going on.

On TV there was a commercial for some doctor. It had soft music playing in the background and some stupid lady down in the corner talking about how much he cared. Meanwhile it showed a monkey with 5 eyes (in my dream this was the standard configuratio for that species of monkey - 2 upper eyes, 2 lower eyes, and a fifth, small one right in the middle) tied down to a table as this doctor cut his head open, switched tools, continued to cut right through the monkey's middle eye, and then started sewing his eyes shut. I wasn't sure if I should be more outraged that he was doing this at all, or that people watching the commercial would think that the doctor was a great guy because 'he's doing research'. In any case, I got really mad and started stabbing a yellow bulletin board with scissors. Then I tried to make the scissors into an 'X' shape as someone was talking to me.

Too bad this kind of thing really happens all the time.

I just donated 500$ to the Primate Freedom Project. And I really need to get to work writing letters to various people (about this and other things). You should, too.
