Fake Wisconsin Western Ithsmus - 2018-10-19 - Entry 1587 - TOGoS's Journal

Dreamt that I was going to be driving 'up north'. Maybe I was drivng by myself and Sara was already up there. This was the weird dream version of Wisconsin, though, and this time the west edge of Wisconsin was a coast and there was a long north-south lake a few miles in. Up where the ithsmus between the lake and the coast rejoned the mainland there was a town, maybe Eau Claire, and north of that there was another penninsula or ithsmus that would take you further 'up north'. I was planning my drive. I was starting out southwest of the south end of the log lake and deciding I was going to drive up the western ithsmus.

Was that the actual position of Madison, or was I just putting it next to the lake in my mind to compare the relative sizes?

After I'd gotten going I stopped at a campsite. There were a bunch of people there sitting in folding chairs and playing some kind of game where there was this drag queen up front lip-syncing with some song but then the rest of the turn was spent silently miming jokes about Subway. I didn't think any of it was very funny so I started to think about leaving.

There were mountains to the northeast. Maybe instead of driving up the ithsmus I should cross these mountains, I suggested, mostly jokingly to myself. Since when does Wisconsin have mountains, anyway? That's cool and I kind of want to check them out. But there's mountains behind those mountains, so it's going to be a long hard journey if I choose to go that way.

Sometimes when I notice a recurrng theme in my dreams (previously "bears", and in this case, driving north along ithsmuses in alternate versions of Wisconsin and there being mountains within sight of Madison) I like to look up what people think those things mean. And then it can be interesting to go back and read the other dreams I had about that thing and see if I can relate it to what was going on in my life.

Looking at a mountain
May represent evaluating a major decision. You may be contemplating your chances of overcoming a major obstacle or reaching a goal.
Seeing mountains in the distance
May suggest you are considering potential problems that may arise in the future and how to overcome them. May suggest problems that seem small at first but will loom larger as time passes by.

In this dream I was seeing the mountains as a cool geographic feature that I could go explore if I wanted, but it would have been a silly way to go to get up north. But I wasn't actually totally certain why I was going north, so maybe exploring the mountains would have been appropriate.

The recurring 'driving north' theme is interesting, too, especially because it tends to coincide with driving along long narrow strips of land. Maybe I'll think about that one more later.

Maybe someday I'll add a feature to the journal that lets you click on the tags and get a list of all entries that had that tag.
