So far our DSL kicks the crap out of Charter. [Cheque it, d00dz]. Only thing that's changed for the worse that I noticed is that it takes a long time to log into my linux box via SSL, but that was because the VPN address of my machine at work changed from 10.200.0.10 to 10.200.0.14, so I had to fix the hosts file so that the SSL daemon wouldn't sit around forever trying to reverse-DNS the client. At least I think that's what the problem was.

Took some pictures and videos of the geese at Olin park this morning on the way to werk. I was hoping I'd catch them taking off for the winter, but they didn't get around to it while I was there, though they were having a pretty kicking party; I got some cool vids of a crowd of geese coming to join them. I'll post some links afterI've uploaded them.

I didn't get much sleep last night. It was too cold and I didn't have enough blankets and/or sweaters. Made for a lot of somewhat memorable REMming.

I was visiting our old house in Platteville. It had this stairway made out of large pieces of lumber like railroad ties. It spiraled around in a square down to the basement. There were some girls living there now showing me around. I was telling them about the parties I used to have down there and they thought that was a good idea. They had some music playing. No strobelights, but I figured dancing in the dark would be almost as much fun.

I decided I had to go to the store to buy some bungee cords or some camera memory. And I left my bike just sitting by the front door, hoping it and the stuff in my basket wouldn't get stolen by anyone while I was out. I went uphill to a Pizza Hut/Subway-like place where I proceeded to order food.

"I'd like to use the salad bar"
"Are you sure? That's the most expensive thing we have!"
"But it's soo good!"
"OK, here's your tray; that'll be 25$"
"Ach! Sorry, I cannot afford." (put the tray back on the counter)
"It's OK"

Through all these dreams I was leaving things lying around, hoping I would remember to pick them up when I came back and that nobody would have taken them. Probably inspired by leaving a lot of crap in the office last night as I couldn't figure out how to get back in with my key after going to Pedro's for margaritas.

In the last dream I remember having (just before waking up to weather forecasts on Q106) I was biking along a paved path through a park, maybe in place of the arboretum, so that I would turn left up ahead and then be biking up the last hill before getting out onto Seminole highway, but not actually that place. The path went along the side of a hill, and there was a water tower off to the side and some interesting clouds spilling out of that area (that I could see clouds 'spilling out' on such a small scale was what was interesting).

While I was biking along, though, there was this crazed medium-sized dog that kept coming after me and trying to grab me and pull me back. Every time he did that he'd jump up as if to bite me right on the neck, and I'd catch him by the face and in the same motion fling him over and away as far as I could, so that I'd hopefully have some time to pick up some speed before he got to me again. Getting speed was hard because I was in too low a gear and going uphill.
