Things I've never seen before - 2010-04-14 (Wednesday) 23:50 - Entry 1140 - TOGoS's Journal

First proof of concept.
Improved shadows!
Whipped up some D5-ish land generation and bridges.
Not as visually stunning as yesterday's, but created architecture to allow seamless exploration of infinite world. Trees will be back shortly!

Last week ended with me in a pretty down mood. In addition to feeling increasingly isolated from certain somebody who hasn't been online much, I miserably failed an attempt to run around Lake Monona on Friday (ended up running about half way in total and with blisters all over my toes), and on Saturday took Yoru over to the folks' house only to have her jump out a window (so we theorize) and be lost for almost an entire day. Fortunately she didn't wander too far from the house and we found her on Sunday evening on the path (I had to chase her under the Studnitka's porch), and it was about then that things started getting better for me, though there has been the bummer news that YC's going to have to fly back to Taiwan a lot sooner than she expected.

Monday I downloaded JGame and started basing TOGoSGame2 around it. I am wary of filling my life with this kind of thing since that last semester of college but using someone else's engine has saved me a lot of time and things are going pretty good already on that front (screenies right; more on this later).

This morning on the way to work I saw a DeLorean driving down Midvale! IMMD. But that's not all!

We managed to get the Mock stuff released today. I was sitting around [being available for] troubleshooting, and during some in-between time pumped out a new version of TOGoSGame2.

Biking home I almost ran somebody over when they stepped out in front of me, and then a biker going the other way yelled something. I felt like I was biking into a warm front passing Monona Terrace. After that everything smelled like mud and hay and flowers and wonderful. CWhen I was almost home, biking up Paul, I saw a bright green light moving across the sky, first wondered what kind of helicopter looks like that, then realized it was a meteor. It was moving north-south and lit up the whole sky green. I was afraid we were all dead for a moment—I've never seen any rock in the sky burn that bright before—but then it broke up and disappeared.

When I got home I found that ants had taken over my kitchen. They got into the raisin bran and made it taste funny. I guess that's a negative.

The cat was sitting on my hand as I was trying to add the images to this entry.
